I was sent over the latest demo build to some playtesters, and they pointed out many bugs and issues that I never noticed. Cheers to them for helping me find these bugs and allowing me to squash them. Also, this is a Devlog for the 30th Improve My Game Jam, where you submit a game you already made, and improve it!
Here is the Changelog for v0.1.2:
Bug Fixes:
- The 5 Pellet now works properly.
- Bug Fixed where Pikmin would display in your squad when there were none.
- The Pikmin that follows you now properly moves towards you.
Throwing a Pikmin at a pellet being carried no longer deletes the thrown Pikmin.(Bug not fixed)- The top of the Onion no longer glitches out in the Onion awakening cutscene.
New Content:
- Most music has been updated to sound complete, and closer to the original.
- You can now walk through pellets being carried.
- The left side of the Impact Site is able to be explored.
- A cutscene plays when you discover the Pikmin.
- A menu was added to the Title Screen.
- Olimar no longer says that you have 20 missing parts, and it now says that you are missing 30.
- Olimar no longer says that you have 100 missing gears, and it now says that you are missing 50.
I also decided that every few Devlogs, I would release some info about behind the scenes content that may get added and stuff that has been completed, but is unable to be seen as of now. So, uh, this is the current behind the scenes content:
- The first Area has a completed layout, and all but a small portion remains of the Second to be finished.
- Most enemies function properly; most enemies are fully programmed.
- A way to change the font is being worked on. (Fate unknown)
- A settings menu is in the works. The plan is to let you disable Sound Effects, Music, and Change the Font, or even maybe the language. The current planned languages are English, Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, and German. (Please note, I only speak English, so I will be using Google Translate to get it as accurate as possible. If something is translated incorrectly, please correct my mistake.)
- I am also working on Challenge Mode! The main idea behind it is it will take place on a remixed stage, with brand remixed enemies! The stages will be a bit smaller, but they will be fully explorable, no screen fades!
- A Pikmin Counter is in the works! It should be ready in a few updates, but I can't say for sure...
- I might remove gears from the game entirely, to keep it closer to the original, but I am unsure. You can comment below if I should keep the gears in the game, or if I should remove them. The choice is yours!
