The First Devlog!

Hi!

Welcome to the first devlog for Beach Blitz! I wanted to share with you my experience making this game. I bolded the most important parts.

I decided to join the Mini Jam, which is hosted every 2 weeks. I wanted to join, and uh... forget about the last game I made for a jam... anyways,  so I joined and waited anxiously for the limitation, I already started with a concept build, with a beach theme (the theme was seaside). When the time came, I learned the limitation was "Everything dies in one hit." I was super relived that the limitation was easier than I expected, so I got to work with adding it to the test build. My first idea is you play beach ball-sports with your friends, but you can hit them with the ball, and they're out, and they can hit you too. I didn't like the idea, since I don't understand multiplayer in HTML. So I settled that you want to go swimming, but there are obstacles in the way. I had 3 enemies in mind, a water balloon, a seagull, and some sort of ground enemy. I removed the seagull, because the AI I wanted to give it was too hard for me. I decided to make the ground enemy a crab, and I thought the art I made was pretty cool. I decided to take Saturday off, since I thought I was really ready for submitting. Big Mistake! I was not even CLOSE to finishing! I quickly added some music Evan made for a game I was working on (you'll see it's concept soon!) and slapped it in. It actually fit in TOO well... anyways, after adding fade effects, a new water meter, and a beach ball enemy, I submitted the game 4 minutes before the deadline. It was stressful, but worth it. Maybe procrastinating is cringe after all.
